Cookie Policy

1 What are cookies?

Cookies are very small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your choices, and to help site owners understand how their pages are used. On the greetings.ie website we use cookies (and similar technologies such as pixels and local storage) to keep the site working, to remember what you have placed in your shopping basket, to improve our content and navigation, and — where you allow it — to measure how the site is performing and to make our marketing more relevant. This page explains the cookies we use and how you can control them.

2 The cookies we use

We group the cookies on our site into the following categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to function. They keep track of your shopping basket, keep you signed in, and help keep the site secure. Because they are essential to a service you have asked for, they do not require consent and cannot be switched off.
  • Preference (functional) cookies — remember choices such as your region or currency so we can give you a more personalised experience.
  • Analytics & performance cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. The information is used in aggregate and is only collected if you allow it.
  • Marketing & advertising cookies — help us and our partners show offers that are more relevant to you and measure how our campaigns perform. They are only set if you allow them.

Cookies also last for different lengths of time: “session” cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while “persistent” cookies remain until they expire or you delete them. You can see the full, up-to-date list of the individual cookies we use — what each one does and how long it lasts — in the cookie-preferences panel on our site (see section 4).

3 Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by trusted third parties whose services we use to run and improve greetings.ie — for example providers that help us with payments, website analytics, email and marketing, search, security and content delivery, customer reviews, and embedded media such as videos. When a page includes content or services from a third party, that provider may set its own cookies, which we do not control. We recommend reviewing each provider’s own privacy and cookie information to understand how they use cookies and the choices they offer.

4 Managing and withdrawing your consent

When you first visit greetings.ie you are shown a cookie banner where you can accept or reject the categories of cookies that are not strictly necessary. You can change your mind at any time:

  • On our website — you can reopen the cookie-preferences panel at any time using the cookie-settings link on the site to review the current cookie list, change which categories you allow, and withdraw consent you have previously given. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
  • In your browser — most browsers let you see, block or delete stored cookies in their privacy or security settings. Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies you may not be able to sign in or complete a purchase. For general, browser-by-browser guidance you can visit an independent resource such as aboutcookies.org.

5 Cookies and your personal data

Some cookies involve the processing of personal data. How we handle personal data — including who is responsible for it, the legal bases we rely on, how long we keep it and the rights you have — is explained in our Privacy Policy. Please read this Cookie Policy together with that Privacy Policy.

6 Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal, technical or operational reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page, so please check back occasionally. If you have any questions about our use of cookies, please contact us.
